Prisma enclosures: comply with the IEC 60439-1 standard The aim of the IEC 60439-1 standard is to formulate the definitions, conditions for use, design measures, technical data and tests for low voltage electrical switchboards. All switchboard components are concerned by the standard: switchgear, mechanical components, mechanical and electrical connections. The switchboards are tested with 7 type tests and 3 routine tests

Prisma enclosures compliance with seven IEC 60439-1 type tests

The seven type tests were performed by Schneider Electric in an approved laboratory, under the most severe conditions.

  1. Temperature rise limits

  2. Dielectric properties

  3. Short-circuit withstand

  4. Protection-circuit efficiency

  5. Clearance and creepage distances

  6. Mechanical operation

  7. Degree of protection

Prisma enclosures and tools to respect the standards

The 3 routine tests of the IEC 60439-1 standard are under the responsibility of the panel builder or the installer:

  1. Inspection of the assembly including inspection of wiring and, if necessary, electrical operation test

  2. A dielectric test

  3. checking of protective measures and electrical continuity of the protective circuit

Conformity is ensured by observing the mounting instructions and basic installation and assembly rules. To that end, Schneider supplies a full range of tools for assistance :

G System

The Prisma Plus functional system

  • The Prisma Plus range of wall mounted and floor standing enclosures allows production of all LV distribution switchboard types up to 630A, in tertiary or industrial environment.

  • The Prisma Plus system components and particularly the functional unit ones have been calculated and tested with allowance for device performance. This particular attention guarantees the operating reliability of the electrical installation and optimum safety for operators.

Device installation

  • Each front plate is fastened onto supports by captive 1/4 turn screws.

  • All the front plates are removed in a single operation to allow checking of positioning of devices during mounting and direct access to switchgear after installation.

Connection

  • The connection terminal blocks and earth busbars with direct plug-in can be positioned in the duct, opposite the switchgear.

  • The terminal blocks, equipped with spring cages, guarantee easy, quick and reliable connection.

Enclosure

Thought out down to the last detail, the G System enclosure lets you produce all common switchboard configurations up to 630 A.

  • A sufficiently wide range made up of 8 heights ranging from 330 to 1380 mm at a pitch of 150 mm.

  • 2 widths:

    • 595 mm for switchgear,

    • 305 mm for cables or to install a terminal block, a busbar or even switchgear.

  • Possibility of combination in width and depth.

  • A design simplifying at all times complete, rapid accessibility to switchgear and to all switchboard connection points.

  • A discrete appearance ensuring harmonious blending into tertiary sites, including in entrance halls and passageways.

P System - The Prisma Plus functional system

  • The Prisma Plus range of cubicles allows production of all LV distribution switchboard types up to 3200A, in tertiary or industrial environment.

  • The Prisma Plus system components and particularly the functional unit ones have been calculated and tested with allowance for device performance. This particular attention guarantees the operating reliability of the electrical installation and optimum safety for operators.

Device installation

  • « Power » connection and fine wiring

  • A fully insulated Polypact distribution block.

  • Dedicated to Compact NS circuit-breakers and NS switches, this horizontal distribution block lets you interchange or add a device very quickly.

  • Busbar connections are equipped with self-breaking nuts that guarantee tightening torque.

  • The Polypact distribution block includes an integrated trunking for organisation of auxiliary wiring routing.

Connection

  • The connection terminal blocks and earth busbars with direct plug-in offer a high degree of positioning accuracy for enhanced accessibility.

  • The terminal blocks, equipped with spring cages, guarantee easy, quick and reliable connection.

Enclosure

  • Thought out down to the slightest detail, the Prisma Plus cubicles allow production of all common switchboard configurations up to 3200 A.
